   Pronouns are almost all very small words. This fact causes some people to think that pronouns are, therefore, a small and unimportant part of the language. But the opposite is true. Understanding the various types of pronouns and how they are used is very important for developing accuracy in English.




Prepositions and Phrasal Verbs.
This is a very large category of verbal expressions that use prepositions to change the meaning of a verb. It is different from the ordinary combination of a verb and a preposition because the verbplus-preposition phrase as a whole acquires a completely new meaning and one that is often radically different from the original meaning of the verb.

Here are a few sentences with the verb to come used with its regular meaning. Each one has a prepositional phrase in it, but the meaning of to come is not changed:
These young people come from Spain.
He came into the room and sat down.
Come with me, please.
