В психотерапии кризисов идентичности возможно использование любых портретных и сюжетных наборов. Ассоциативные карты «Self» (Самость) разработаны специально для развития и коррекции идентичности, помощи в принятии личностной сущности, осознание путей самоактуализации. Они характеризуются разноплановостью стилистики (ведь самость каждой личности индивидуальна, поэтому было бы неверно представлять ее проявления в каком-то едином стиле), эмоциональной сдержанностью, обращенностью в собственный внутренний мир, отражают различные периоды взросления, самопонимания и представлений о смысле существования.
