WHAT IS A SENTENCE?
A sentence is an organized series of words that allows one to make a statement, ask a question, express a thought, offer an opinion, etc. In writing, a sentence is easily identified because it starts with a capitalized word and ends with either a period, a question mark, or an exclamation mark.
Examples
Quella donna e italiana. / That woman is Italian, (statement)
E italiana, quella donna? / Is that woman Italian? (question)
Penso che quella donna sia italiana. / I think that woman is Italian, (thought/opinion).
Notice that a sentence is organized in relation to what you intend to say and how you are going to say it. You cannot put words in just any order!
