An institute is an organisational body created for a certain purpose. But this word may refer to different things. Usually institutes are research organisations created to do research on specific topics. In some countries institutes can be part of a university either as a group of departments or a separate educational institution without a traditional university status such as a “university institute”. In some countries, such as South Korea and Japan, private schools are sometimes known as institutes (rather than schools). In Spain secondary schools are referred to as institutes.

Hitchhikers use a set of signals (which may be different in various countries) to draw drivers’ attention. People willing to try hitchhiking have to remember some safety rules.
